HiGH&LOW THE WORST is a 2019 crossover film between Worst and HiGH&LOW directed by Sigeaki Kubo. The film was released in Japan on October 4th, 2019 and the DVD & Blu-ray of the movie were released on July 22nd, 2020. Plot[] Murayama Yoshiki has been the leader of Oya High for a while, and he is now bored without challenge inside the ferocious school. Like it is an answer to his boredom, Hanaoka Fujio, a new student transferred to the Full-time School of Oya High, has ambitions to challenge Murayama to a man-to-man fight one day after he acquires the position of leader of the Full-time School. However, there are many other people at the Full-time School aiming for the same leadership position. They are the top-ranked team of Todoroki Yosuke, Shibaman, and Tsuji; the Nakagoshi and Nakaoka, who are leading the second-year and first-year students, respectively; the Yasu-Kiyo faction led by Yasushi and Kiyoshi, who rise to prominence through their crazy fighting style. As the new generation, Fujio, together with his childhood friend Tsukasa and his minion Jamuo, has entered the Warring States period of The Full-time School. Meanwhile, in the somewhat distant city of Toarushi, the Housen Academy, the strongest skinhead army, led by its leader Ueda Sachio, is gaining strength. The Housen Four Heavenly Kings commonly known as Ozawa Hitoshi, Odajima, Sawamura, Jinkawa, and Shida, along with the young and resourceful minion Sabakan, has assembled the strongest Housen army ever. One day, Housen's students are suddenly attacked by men who claimed to be students of Oya High, while at the same time, a student from Oya High is also attacked by men who claimed to be Housen's. As a result, the two schools become hostile toward each other. The two schools, Oya High, which is full of individualistic but overwhelmingly strong, and Housen Academy, which is organised in a monolithic fashion, clash on the bank of a river at dusk, and the summit battle of the century is about to begin. HiGH&LOW THE WORST Episode 0[] A six-episodes TV special premiered before the release of the movie. Plot[] Fujio and Tsukasa are new students at Oya High, but Fujio transfers to a school in the countryside where his grandfather lives. Fujio's life is boring, but, while Fujio talks with his grandfather, he looks back on himself. 6 From HiGH&LOW THE WORST[] A six-episodes TV special released a month after the movie. Plot[] Fujio Hanaoka, Seiji Kirihara, Shinya Oochi, Masaya Oochi, Madoka Ishii and Arata Maekawa are friends and they grew up together. They gather together to celebrate Seiji's birthday. The friends dig out a time a capsule they buried 10 years ago. They also write a letter to themselves for 10 years in the future and place it into a new time capsule. Afterwards, the friends experience tragedy. Trivia[] The idea of this film was first revealed at the end of the previous High&Low film, DTC -Yukemuri Junjou Hen- from HiGH&LOW, with a small video clip revealing that there will be a war between Oya High and Housen. A map of Toarushi and the name of Housen is also mentioned in the DTC -Yukemuri Junjou Hen- from HiGH&LOW film. The three main protagonists of the film took a detour route in their journey in order to avoid Housen. In a Japanese interview for HiGH&LOW THE WORST's sequel, Kawamura Kazuma revealed that his character Hanaoka Fujio is an original character created by Hiroshi Takahashi himself. Worst 816 was available for free to anyone who bought the movie tickets. Haruyama Koichi, or better known as Parko made an appearance in the movie and strikes the same pose as he did in Crows. In the post-credit scene, a GPS sticker can be seen beside Jamuo's legs when they were scouting Suzuran. The kanji for Hanaki Guriko can be seen on Suzuran's wall in the post-credit scene. Hōusen Gakuen Nisshi which center on the daily lives of HiGH&LOW's Hōusen students were released on April 6 in Akita Shoten's Monthly Shōnen Champion magazine. Katagiri Ken made an appearance in 6 From HiGH&LOW THE WORST. Odajima Yuken, Sawamura Shoji, Jinkawa Imei, Shida Kenzo appeared as playable characters in HiGH&LOW THE CARD TEPPEN BATTLE. Oh, don't get me wrong, I liked it, but it was basically a rehash of the old plots just with high school protagonists. Genius friend studying in a good school, sister doing drugs, best friend falling in with the wrong crowd for the right reasons, big fight to bring said bestie back to his senses... yup, it was all there before. And it wasn't bad, it just wasn't, well, why my favorite moments were the bits that actually did feel fresh. Like Fujio and Sachi's relationship that started with them as complete strangers becoming friends becoming enemies becoming friends again, relieved that the other wasn't a bad guy, after all. That was cute! Also, the way Fujio looked at Sachi? Hot damn!Also, Murayama's graduation. It pretty much mirrored Tatsuya's departure from Mugen, true. But I loved that it showed that change doesn't need to be bad, that when something ends, something else begins and it might be just as good. And that there comes a moment when you feel that, yeah, this is it, it's time to move on now. And you are happy about that closure, not favorite scene of all? When Murayama called Cobra and asked him to hear him out this time because he just needed someone to talk to, an equal. That just gave me warm wish we got more info on Sachi, though. Because he was a badass and I'm not saying that just because Shison Jun is my favorite actor. Sachi was... hot damn! But he and his sister and Housen in general felt underdeveloped because most attention was given to Fujio and his gang. Luckily, Shison Jun could carry the part with what little he was given.
